Jesus said: "I say this to you: You are Peter, the Rock and on this rock I will build my
church, and the powers of death shall never conquer it." Matthew 16 verse 18
Since the arrival of the first settlers to Bermuda, our churches have made a strong and enduring
contribution to the Island's spiritual well being and to its cultural and political history. The
ongoing commitment of Bermudians to their faith is reflected in the inspiring architecture and
atmosphere of our centres of woship. With such an astonishing number of churches; our tiny island
has certainly proved to be a solid rock on which Christianity has grown and flourished.
The Anglican Church of Bermuda is a part of the world-wide Anglican Communion. It is in communion
with the Episcopal Church of the United States of America, the Anglican Church of Canada and the
Church of England, and Anglicans from any part of the world are welcome to worship with us and to
receive Holy Communion. Christians of other denominations who would otherwise be unable to receive
Holy Communion during their stay in bermuda are also welcome to receive Holy Communion in our
churches.
I hope that you will enjoy your stay in Bermuda, that you will come and woship with us, and that
you will make yourself known to the parish priest so that he and his people can make you feel at
home.
